Isopure question

Hi all!! 5 days to sleeve--OH MY GOSH!! I'm trying to prep as much as possible now in case I'm not up for it after surgery. I'm going to run to Vitamin Shoppe on my lunch today to pick up some more protein drinks--I'm planning on getting Pure Protein and Isopure. I've never had Isopure before, and I was hoping you guys could recommend which flavors to start with?

I like the banana cream, strawberries and cream and toasted coconut.

Good luck on your journey:)

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll see which flavors the VS has.

I liked the fruit punch in the pre-mixed bottles, the grape isn't too bad either. It can get kind of expensive, so snag a bottle or two and wait until after surgery to decide which you want to stock up on.

That's a good idea. I may not need it after all--my nutritionist says that she's fine if I can only drink one Pure Protein a day for the first few weeks, so I may just get 2 flats of that, since it's my favorite.

One thing to watch out for-- a lot of folks see their tastes changes a LOT after surgery. Something you really like now may taste super gross afterwards!

One thing that seems to work well is finding sample packs that you can use post-op. Syntrax makes "nectar" flavors that taste a lot like Isopure, and there are a few vitamin shops online that sell packs of 10 different flavors to try. That might be an option as well, before you buy a full case of anything (or a $50 tub of powder!).

Do you think my taste could change for just a simple chocolate flavor?

I'll look when I'm at VS to see what kind of samples they have--the one near my house has a few options :)

Yeah, it's definitely possible! Various brands of chocolate taste different, plus there are differences in texture and consistency. Sometimes you can adjust by switching between water/milk/soy milk/etc. when you mix them, but apparently my surgeon sees this happen often enough that he tells patients not to buy in bulk beforehand.

Absolutely. Preop I bought a humongus size of Muscle Milk Light powder, and absolutely oould not choke it down in the shake version post op. Eventually I started using it in the morning coffee and I was able to use it that way, but I would nevery buy it again.

Also, protip: VitaminShoppe will match their online pries in store, so you can save a little bit of money that way, if that's where you shop :)
