4 years out... maintaining is not as easy!

I am currently 4 years out.  I started at 225 lbs and my lowest was 125 at 2 years out.  At 3 years, I had gained to 135 which my doctor said was good as I was too skinny for my looks at 125 (I am 5'6).  Now at 4 years, I am fairly steady at 140 to 145 and I have hit 146 but went on a strict diet to be at the 142/143.. I can't seem to get below 142 though which is frustrating.  My goal is to be 138.  My capacity is more, and I know I need to exercise but living in South Texas is not easy when it is 100+ degrees, as I am a walker.

Just keep focused on losing that extra weight, you can do this. Protein first, and reduce your carbs to at least 30-35 per day and make sure you're drinking your water. If husband isn't supportive of you joining a gym, I'd definitely make room in the house for that treadmill! Exercise is an important part of the weight loss after WLS. Good luck.

Do you need his permission to join a gym and take the steps you need to be healthy?

When I need to be a wife, homemaker and mother, yes..   I assume you are single? or have no other outside responsibilities?

Lol!  Not even close. But I don't need my partners' permission to do what I need to do for my own health - nor are they controlling enough to think they could prevent me from doing what I need to do.

If he won't let you join a gym, does he have any ideas for how you are supposed to exercise?  Or does he want you to be unhealthy?

Your idea of "marriage' is obviously very different from mine.  If I were "unhealthy" it would be different - he has supported me through the process and the last 4 years.  I am struggling with finding ways to lose 5 to 6 lbs.. He does not see that as a reason to take prescious time away from our family.  Was just looking for constructive ideas- different food intake, calories, proteins, exercise ideas, etc... obviously you are not aware of any and consider this board to be a bashing area.  I hope you never have priorities over your weight loss - good luck to you.

Don't worry about her.... that's a whole bunch of nothing.

I respect your commitment to family, I'm sure you will find an activity that blends into your family life and everyone benefits !

PM me if you want to bounce some ideas back and forth.

A whole bunch of nothing?! Gwen raises a valid point. Better to stop a regain at 5-6 pounds than 20. The OP was not getting bashed at all, so there is no need to 'rescue' her.

Go ahead and block me--you have some helluva nerve.

Not to mention that weight is far from the only indicator of health.  Sedentary people are often unhealthy, regardless of what the scale says.

I see nowhere on here when she said her husband won't let her go to a gym or that she is sendentary. She said she is a walker. Where are you getting this? She asked for help, not comments on her marriage. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but that wasn't what she asked for.
