When did physical hunger return for you??
I'm curious as to when others felt real physical hunger return post-op. It still hasn't for me and I'm hoping it doesn't (at least for a while longer). Curious as to what others have experienced.

My physical hunger returned at about 6 months but less as hunger pangs and more as feeling jittery and weak. I realised I had to eat some protein every 2-3 hours or I was faint quite rapidly.I'm not diabetic either. Head hunger kicked in hard around goal so that's more of a psychological thing I'm facing.
Surgery: April 30, 2014: HW: 288 SW: 250 Achieved Goal 149 lbs: April 8, 2015 CW: 158 lbs (working on losing 65 lb regain as of June 1, 2021. Weight was at 215 lbs). Fighting every darn day!
Thanks for sharing. I'm sure everyone might have varied answers but it helps knowing what others have experienced.

I forgot when true physical hunger kicked in, but it was many months later. At the time I had to distinguish between head hunger, or if it was too much acid (which mimics hunger), or if I needed to drink rather than eat. All these things I continue to figure out as I move along.
The only thing for sure that changed is that my hunger pangs after wls is no where near it was pre wls. Back then, the pangs were so strong sometimes that it actually hurt. Now a days the pang is there, but more like a reminder to eat & I can ignore it if I choose to. Hope this helps some.

I hope I experience the same as you if it does come back. I'm hoping I'm one of those that just never gets it back!!

Totally understand! I am hopeful that I never get it back but understand that reality could have a different plan.

I sometimes feel hungry in the morning even five weeks out, but I'm 99% sure it's head hunger. It doesn't compare to the horrible hunger I had pre-surgery that was all consuming. I think I still have head hunger issues to stay the least, but so far I've managed them well in counseling.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
