Moving out of the country really throws a wrench in your eating plans
So I moved to Zambia. Yeah I know. Well if you think following your weightloss plan in the US is difficult, try being in a country that doesn't really do fat free or low carb anything. I miss the easy days of just grabbing an Atkins frozen food on lazy or busy days. I have certainly been cooking more because I saw a 2 lb weight gain and we all know that's where it starts. I got back on plan and lost it quickly but I am really feeling the pressure. I've since started teaching my housekeeper how to cook weigh****cher's recipes and counting the calories but sometimes it'**** or miss. It's great to have a free gym so I take advantage of it every chance I get. Planning meals is no easy feat when you have no idea what will even be in the stores sometimes. THERE ARE NO PROTEIN SHAKES and these liquid items cannot come through the mail to me...ay yai yai...just having one of those days and had to vent.
Holy crap! That's got to be quite an adventure.

Hey stranger. I'm so glad to see your weight loss!! I remember when you were getting ready for the surgery.
I'm sorry to hear about your struggle. I know it has to be really hard but you got this!! It will take A LOT more planning ahead but you can do it!! Hey and if you can do it in Africa then you can do it anywhere. Stay strong.
Thanks MayPenGirl, It has been quite a struggle but now that I've gotten used to the city and gotten settled I'm back on track. Protein sources here is just chicken, beef, pork. Zambia is a landlocked country so even though there might be fish and shrimp, you have to tread with caution or you could end up with the stomach bug from hell. Although (confession) I have used a stomach bug to get me back on track :-)
You say that liquids can't be shipped, but what about protein powders?

Well it looks like you're doing great for being in such a difficult situation. I had a friend who joined the Peace Corps and worked over in South Africa for a year. She came back 50 lbs. heavier! With all the different foods she naturally gravitated to the easy carbs that she could recognize.
Keep up the great work. Can't wait to hear about all your adventures :-)
