VGS post-op Update

Hello friends,

I wanted let you know that my VGS yesterday went very smoothly.  The pre-op diet did an excellent job of shrinking my liver in preparation of the procedure.  I was able to walk five times by bed last night.

I didn't quite expect the level of post-op pain, but it was only really tough in the period between the recovery room and when I was able to receive medication in my room.  They had to observe my vitals for a couple of hours.  If you can make it until then, then the largest hurdle is cleared (that could just be my experience though).

I'm still a little sore this morning, but I'm glad that I decided to add this tool to my arsenal in the battle for health.  If you decide to walk this road, then I suggest you follow your doctor's diet recommendations as explicitly as possible   If you think that something is wrong, then you should ASK.  They initially made a mistake with mine, but we got together and resolved the problem.

Finally, therapy prepares you to handle the process.  I started about ten weeks before the procedure; some might need more or less.   Reading about other patients' experiences here helped me know what to expect.

A new leg of the journey begins today.  I wish you all love, health, and happiness.  Also, a very medicinally l-induced namaste.
