No energy, not wanting to "eat"

Hi, I'm 11 days post op and still having problems swallowing at times.  I feel like it's stuck at my breast bone.  Smaller, room temp bevetages do help most of the time.  Seems like my biggest issue is not wanting to eat, due to the stucstuck feeling, also if i see another cup of broth or jello, I'll puke.  Full liquids (even thinned) still seem too much right now.  It takes all my energy just to walk from one end of the house to the other.  Not regretting my decision at all, I'm aware this is a transitional stage, but not progressing like most.

Maybe you should contact your surgeons office to be on the safe side. I am only a little over a week out and aren't having any trouble like you describe, everyone is different though so I wouldn't worry too much. My concern would be dehydration if you aren't getting enough water/liquids in so be careful.

At my follow up they said the diet progression is just a guideline, you can revert to clears or any past phase if full liquids are too much. Have you tried some pudding, maybe a texture change.

I have no problems with room temperature water going down, full liquids go but I have to take them slow or I get nauseas but other than pain it is going ok.

Please keep us posted, sending prayers and positive thoughts!

I am 5 weeks out and am just now feeling like I can swallow a gulp of water instead of a sip.  I never had any problems swallowing or getting liquids down if I took it slow.  I was still very tired and had a huge loss of energy at 11 days out, I was working 10 hours a day though, so that didn't help.  In the clinic I had my surgery there is always my medical assistant available to talk to, so if you have someone like that where you had surgery I would give them a call.  My guess is they will say, back to clear liquids.  Hang in there!  Pretty soon you will have more energy than you've had in a while.

If you can try and up your water in-take.  I had the same issue at your stage and found that dehydration was causing it.  Good luck to you!

Anderson split pea soup saved me!!! I watered it down a little, but went to the 99cent store and stocked up. Little bit at a time, like 1/4 cup....yummy and warm helps it go down. Make sure to walk too to get the gas out. Gas can make a lot of problems.  Good luck.
