I'm still a stress eater :(
I've been working on it, but today when I thought one of the classes I took wasn't going to count toward renewing my teaching certificate (which expires in 8 days, so if the class doesn't count I'm screwed) my first thought was that I needed a peanut butter cup. Not that I wanted one, or that sounded good, no, I NEEDED it. Thankfully I didn't have one, so it didn't matter. But, it makes me realize once again the battle is forever on going.
Hi Sarah,
I hear you. I will fight that until my last breath. Did your class count? I teach, so I get it.

It did count, thankfully. I'm a contract employee so I don't do any professional development with the districts I contract with, so when it was time to renew I was 4 credits short. Now I'm just waiting for my last assignment on my last online class to be approved so I can take the final so I can submit it and hopefully get everything in on time! I'm stressed to the max! And my primary student is changing districts and I'm not sure the new one is going to hire me to work with him, so I don't even know if I have a job.
It's a good realization to have. Even if it sucks :(

This is the same way a drug addict or alcoholic feels about their addiction. Junk food, especially nutritionally-empty carbs, is, I believe, addictive to many people, me included.
The solution -- Keep the junk out of your home and away from you on the job, if at all possible. If it isn't there, you can't eat it when the urge hits. and those urges will continue to hit, probably for the rest of your life. I have found that a healthy diet made up of high-quality, low-fat protein and fresh vegs and fruit, helps diminish (but not eliminate!) those cravings.
It's good you recognize the issues you have with junk food -- that goes a long way to dealing with it successfully.

I have the same issue. My counselor gave me some exercises to challenge these thoughts.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

The fact that you recognize it is half the battle I think. Good for you that you didn't act on that impulse.
