How long did you take omeprazole?
i am coming up on my 6 month surgiversary and have my checkup. After my surgery my dr prescribed 40mg omeprazole for 6 months. I wondered how long others have taken it after surgery. On the days I firget to take it in the morning I have indigestion in the afternoon. I will talk to my dr at my appointment but I wondered if anyone else took it for longer than 6 months.
I took it for 3-4 months post-op. Now I just take it if I get to feeling unusually hungry - in which case I'll take it for 2 weeks (which is a bottle of Nexium).

Still taking it. Over counter 20mg now. I have always had heartburn until I started taking it, even before surgery. My PCP will give me a prescription, but my surgery doctor stops it at 6 months. I don't allow the reflux to build up, I manage it daily. I so enjoy being heartburn free for the last 21 months after years of having it. I haven't gone to see my PCP this year yet so that is why I am using over the counter at a lower dose, which works just fine
