Laparascopic surgeries after VSG

I just heard today that someone's surgeon (not VSG surgeon) told them that they cannot have a cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) by laparascopic means AFTER VSG or RNY surgery.  

Has anyone else been advised of this by their VSG surgeon or any other doctor??  

Has anyone had abdominal laparascopic surgery after VSG?

He was told something about the inflating of the abdominal cavity could cause harm????

I think one of the issues with lap abdominal surgery after massive WL and not just exclusive to WLS is the amount of loose skin that may effect the lap process.

I had my VSG on 7/1/13 and had a cholecystectomy last December - both laparoscopically, and both by the same surgeon with no complications. I've never heard warnings about inflating the abdominal cavity post WLS. BUT, I suppose crazy exceptions could come up, like adhesions to the abdominal wall, maybe? That's the main one that comes to mind, but I'm not a medical professional, nor are 99.99% of those who frequent OH. Questions like this are perfect for your surgeon, or his/her nurse if it's a serious concern. I don't know about your surgeon's office, but mine was full of fantastic people who were happy to answer my questions and make sure that I was as educated as possible. Call and ask :) No one will think you're silly for wanting to stay informed!

no,not true. I have had several laparoscopic procedures since my VSG 7 years ago. 

I had vsg last year and lap cholecystectomy this past May, both procedures by same surgeon. No issues at all. Dealt with same gas pains but the GB was an easier recovery. Have not heard about any limits on lap surgeries after VSG. When in doubt, check with your bariatric surgeon.

I had my gallbladder removed laparascopically 8 months after my surgery.  The same surgeon did both surgeries.  He told me the recovery would be easy and it was.  No problems at all.

My surgeon must not have gotten the memo because I had my lap band (bad idea) put in and taken out plus a gall bladder removal all done thru the same original incisions and had no problems what so ever. Easy Peasy maybe just your surgeon doesn't want to do it that way.

I've had 2 post vsg abdominal laparascopic surgeries. No problems. Care does have to be taken to remove and scar adhesions but it was routine...

Nonsense.  MOST people have laparoscopic gallbladder removal after RNY and VSG.

Not true , I had my lapband laproscopic, had colon resection due to colon rectal cancer laproscopic and just had my band removed, hernia repair, scar tissue removed and sleeve done laproscopically with no complications.
