NUT and Protein shakes

MY NUT told be to stop protein shakes this week. NUT thought I had discontinued it a month ago when solids phase went into place? I am 9 weeks post OP BTW.

Frankly wanted to continue the shakes as dense proteins are still a challenge for me? Not impossible but less than easy to eat.

Question. do other continue shakes despite NUT's advice?

thanks

I'm 1.5 yrs out and still have a protein shake for breakfast every day (30g). Getting enough protein is tough enough with "mature" restriction, but when you're still in the early months I would think that it's even more important so it's a bit surprising that your NUT would want you to drop it.  I guess there are a lot of different post-op instructions out there.  Be sure you track your food carefully so you know exactly how much protein you are consuming each day - that's critical data.  Good luck!

The instructions from my NUT include a recommendation to have 1 or 2 protein shakes a day to increase the amount of protein, if needed.  Personally, I've only had a few since I got on solid foods.  My surgery was 4 days before yours.

My team thinks it is okay to keep on with protein shakes. That said, I think it's really important to follow your own team's advice. Choosing to make you own decisions for your health and eating habits (how successful was that for you before surgery? It didn't work well for me!) and justifying them based on internet polls is a bad trap to fall into IMO.

I still have a shake for breakfast every day and I'm 16 months post-op. What's your NUT's reason for dropping them?

supposed to get your protein from solid foods. Nut said that solid proteins are the only way to fill the stomach with any lasting full feeling. I have read that on this site a few times myself.

My personal experience is that a shake in the morning keeps me satisfied until lunch. If you were having problems, I could understand a recommendation to switch to whole foods, but if you're not having problems, I don't understand the requirement.

I do not like to eat breakfast, so my doctor is fine with a protein shake in the morning.  Or protein coffee.

My but said coffee has to be decaf...is yours decaf? I'm sad cause I only drink 1 cup/day. I only drink water otherwise.
