The Digestive System and the Sleeve
I found this article very enlightening to some things I was not aware of.

For example, the reason someone should not drink and eat at the same time is your food needs time to digest in the stomach. There is also a slight risk of "dumping" if you drink too much while eating.
It discusses more than that. Good article.

Dumping does NOT happen in sleeve patients. Unlike RNY patients, we still have our pyloric valve.

Dumping can happen to sleeve patients- it is just not nearly as prevalent. I have issues with it when I consume too much sugar. My dumping is also slightly different in that it triggers heart palpitations, lightheaeedness, nausea and not so much uncontrollable rectal spewing ;0)

Sadly I'm on my phone which makes it inconvenient to search and link, but I swear I've read articles in the past that say everyone, WLS or not, has the potential to dump. So I'm not convinced that it's only a RNY phenomenon - it's just significantly more common with RNY.
I know that I've had an instance where I've experienced every symptom listed for dumping. Not sure what it was if not dumping.

You certainly CAN dump with a VSG just like you can dump with a stock un-altered stomach.
Is it more likely to happen with an RNY.....Yes

I enjoyed the article. Thanks for posting the link.
While dumping is not common at all in Sleeve patients, it can and does happen. I can attest to the fact since I have had an episode that had many of the symptoms of dumping - nausea, diarrhea, sweating, the shakes, and extreme lethargy. It lasted about 30-45 minutes. So while I can't say with 100% certainty that I had a dumping episode, I'm pretty confident that I did. My uncle who has had RNY does not eat an RNY friendly diet and he dumps after pretty much every meal (no comment). My symptoms were extremely similar to his.
