June goal wrap up!

Now that I'm home, I can do my goal update for the end of June.  I'm not quite where I want to be, but I know why and I know that July will be significantly better.

1. Read at least 52 books - I’ve read 33 books! I read 10 books last month? Wow. This is what chemo and international travel will do. 63%
2. Watch at least 52 movies in the theater - I’ve seen 39 movies so far. It was a good month for movies, I even saw one in Norway. 75%
3. Run at least 520 miles - 176 miles so far. So I have a hip injury and, as a result, was only able to run 3 miles in June. To say I’m disappointed would be an understatement. 34%
4. Log at least 15 minutes of exercise EVERY SINGLE DAY - 181 for 181! 50%
5. Start studying Aikido in May - Done! But then my hip injury derailed me in June. Maybe I’ll be able to start up again in July.
6. Start working with a personal trainer in September - Started in April.
7. Lose at least 26 pounds - 10.8 pounds lost. Hrumph. 42%
8. Complete at least 5 races - I’ve done three races so far! My next one isn’t until September. Hopefully I’ll be able to get training again.
9. Achieve half shoulder stand in yoga practice - I’ve sort of been working on this with plow pose.
10. Continue monthly massages - 6 of 12 done. (I’m getting June’s massage today.) 50%
11. Continue mental therapy - Definitely, but it’s been spotty due to all the travel.

June was not my best month. I injured my hip in May and that’s really been derailing my running and Aikido work. I’m pretty frustrated (and sometimes angry) about this. I had hoped to start running again last week, but even just the walking aggravated my hip too much to risk it. I see the orthopedist again on the 24th. I believe that physical therapy is the next step that he mentioned when I saw him last, so that will be challenging to fit into my schedule around everything else.

My dad started chemo again which made personal training and mental therapy pretty spotty due to travel.

But I did see a number of movies! And I read a lot of books! And I exercised every single day, even when I was in Norway. So I definitely had some successes in the hectic month of June. Now if I can just get back to running and eating correctly, July will rock.

Wow! You stick to your resolutions like white on rice. I should be so focused. Good job! (Also, I'm very envious of your trip to Norway; I bet it's beautiful there in the summer.)

The monthly updates have helped to keep me on top of things.  :)
