VEGGIES--IMPORTANCE?

I am 4 months out as of yesterday.  Don't really  have any problems with foods except..... I am doing good on high p;rotein and low carbs.  I try to get about 2 or 2.5oz of dense protein.,  I know we are supposed to get in low carb veggies too.  How important is it to get in the veggies if I am just full enough and not going to pushing  to the limit?  I do have 2 fiber gummies along with vitamins each day.

I started adding cooked vegetables back in as soon as I was cleared to eat regular foods - 4wks for me - and raw veggies after 8wks. I can definitely tell a difference in my bathroom comfort if I skip veggies for a day or two, even in small amounts they really seem to help with regularity, and I honestly MISSED vegetables as a part of my meals. I wilt a handful of spinach or sautee a little bit of diced bell pepper to add to a scrambled egg, or roast some brussels sprouts and portion them out with some baked chicken, that sort of thing. My surgeon's dietician is pretty adamant about having my diet include veggies every day, as long as I'm meeting my protein goals.

I couldn't fit veggies in until 6 months when I was getting in 4-5 oz of dense protein.  I dropped back to 4 oz of dense protein and added some veggies.  I personally wouldn't worry about it until you are farther down the road.  Protein is king.

Keep doing what your doing.

During WL I didn't really eat many veggies, but when I did It was "veg only" snacks.

Keep your protein centric meals the same all the way to goal.

Keep your meals small and preserve your restriction for the long haul!!!

The people that "add" along the way "tend" to be the ones that fall short of goal.

Keep the path !!!

I didn't have room for any veggies until I was 6 or 7 months post op.  And then it was just a couple spoonsful per meal.  I remember how happy I was when I finally had room for them.  They added a lot of interest to my meals!

So I'd say you are doing just fine.  It'll come with time.

No worries. Keep doing what you're doing. When you have the room you can add the vegetables. I can't even remember when I did. What I do remember is that some time around 4 or 5 months out I added a strictly vegetable snack in the afternoons to start getting some vegetables back in my system. Once I was a year out things fell into place and my sleeve was fully mature. That's when I remember being able to eat vegetables with my protein meals regularly.

This sounds similar to how I approached veggies. I started out with a few slices onions or mushrooms with my steak tips,  or something like that. Now,  I still focus on protein but add in a very small salad or some roasted veggies on the side.

Vegetables are not important at all and I rarely eat them.  I eat dense protein and take fiber supplements.
