many people switch when they have problems with the crap band, or it wears out(3-5 years) if you did good with the band you will do great with the sleeve

Even if you didn't do good with the band you still can with the sleeve. Many people did horrible with the band but had great success with the sleeve!

I'm hopeful! I did pretty good with the band but i never found the good zone where it was full enough to not be hungry but loose enough i could eat anything. last fill i got i couldn't even swallow a drop of liquid and im afraid now to have it filled.

I had a lapband from 2007-2009 when it slipped and I had to have emergency surgery to have it removed. I actually was quite successful when I had it, I lost 120lbs. I will say however that the lifestyle was very challenging for me. Despite strictly following the program, I threw up almost every time I ate.

I gained all all my weight back and then some over the past five years. April of this year, I had VSG surgery. So far, it has been wonderful. I've lost 23 pounds in 9 weeks (on top of 50 lbs that I lost during the Medically supervised 6 months diet before surgery). I never push my sleeve so I never have thrown up. I have more energy and am pleased with my progress. I would never recommend lapband after feeling the difference in post op lifestyle. Hope that helps.

Off subject, but are you back to eating pretty normally, or do you have to avoid certain foods?  I am of course not talking about bad food or junk food, just things like salads, chicken, etc.  I am almost five weeks post op and still pretty much on liquids.  Was trying to get an idea of when you felt good eating the foods in small portions.

that helps so much! I either didn't have any restriction or i was throwing up too... I lost 80 lbs with it but gained it all back. Last time filled i couldn't swallow my own spit so i am afraid to get it filled again. Its useless to me right now its basically empty.

I've been told by my doctor that the success rate for the sleeve is very good and most take the weight off and maintain it.  Regardless surgery is a tool not a cure hope this helps!  Good Luck!
