You're right, Dan!  Not everyone matters, do they?

"That's nice."

Abruptly change the topic. Bonus points for something dumb, like "so how about that local sports team?"

I like it, Sparklebaby. Plus, it's awkward enough that they will possibly feel bad. :)

"well bless your heart, aren't you sweet to be concerned! I'll tell you a secret though, my doctor is working with me on my goal weight and we're both happy with where things are heading" --if you are still in the south, that should get the message across, plus telling people a "secret" tends to satisfy the busy body nature of some folks.

Ha!  Bufflehead, that's great Southern wisdom.  I'm in DC, so it's about half southern/half northern.

You're right, we're so similar in our journey!! Around the same surgery date, height, age, loss, clothing size.....!

I got comments over the weekend....I saw some friends I hadn't seen in a while! I know easier said than done, but they are just that comments!! I'm not polite like you.....I'm a mouthy Midwesterner!! I told them that opinions are like butholes and that everyone has one! Maybe that wasn't the best thing to say, but they shut up!

Shake it off and you do you!! You have amazing results and look what you can do physically!!

Ha!  I wish I was a little more mouthy sometimes.  I always think of things to say after the fact, but never in the moment!

I'm awfully proud of both of us.  I just wish everyone else could be too!

I laugh whenever anybody says something like that to me.  I decided to find it funny that people can be so rude and that people would think I'm underweight at 5'7", 185 lbs, which is still classified as "overweight".

Depending on the person, I will questioningly say thank you??? again because it is funny and stupid to thank someone for an insult -- or -- if it's somebody that is genuinely concerned, I tell them that I am under continual care with my doctors, that my blood work and stats are awesome, and my body will stop losing weight when it is at a healthy weight.

Whenever somebody I cannot flip off tells me about somebody that they know or heard about gaining their weight back, I say that I have changed my eating habits, see my doctors regularly and have an excellent support group.   Just keep swimming.
