This may sound silly, but are foods such as jello & yogurt still considered liquids when you are eating regular foods?

I started my liquid pre-op diet today. Your surgeon's office will give you a list of what you are allowed to have when on a liquid diet. The idea is to help with some weight loss prior to surgery and to be able to shrink the stomach and the liver. Lots of sugar free liquids, stay away from carbonation and Lots of sugar free jello and sugar free pudding. Yogurt as well...but with no chunky fruit in it. I am also drinking protien meal replacements as well.

Thanks for your input, but let me clarify. I am over 4 months post-op & want to know if those foods, such as yogurt or jello, which were considered "liquids" when on full liquids still count as liquids when you're eating regular foods.

Good luck with your journey!

Sorry about that...and thank you!!

As far as everything that I have read from my NUT and surgeon'a office they are considered liquids when you are eating regular foods. Just about every NUT and surgeon is different though and when I have been in doubt I shoot my NUT an email with my question.

Jello and sugar free Popsicles are specifically mentioned as "counting toward daily fluids" on my nutrition plan.  It doesn't mention yogurt.

I don't consider jello or yogurt liquids after you introduce regular food back into your diet.

My NUT does not consider jello a liquid once food is introduced. My plan calls for reverting to jello and popsicles only if vomiting or diarrhea  occur. On my plan, yogurt is NOT considered a liquid after the full liquid phase.
