What Not To Wear

So, I know this sounds nuts, but after a 167 pound weight loss, I am struggling to figure out how to dress this new body?

I walked into torrid the other day...first time I've went to do real shopping since my surgery, and I had to turn right back around and walk out. They don't carry anything in my size!

I am so used to shopping at Torrid, Fashion Bug, Lane Bryant, etc. That I feel like I don't know where to shop or even what to wear.

??????

I am so confused...I even find myself auto piloting to the plus size section no matter where I am. I am not that girl anymore!

I wear a medium top and a size 10/12 pant...depending...who am I???? LOL.

Any suggestions on shopping?

Also, a lot of things I see in regular sizes, I like, but my hubby finds them quite revealing...don't know. HELP!

  All things in good time!

I'm right there with you! I find shopping both thrilling and very frustrating, because I'm a bad judge of my size. I'm also a little self conscious about my extra skin on my legs, so above-the-knee skirts and shorts just don't do it for me. I've come to realize that I really must try things on in the store (which thankfully is less miserable than it used to be, although I don't enjoy it). I can't trust size labels to be consistent across brands.

I have come up with a wardrobe I am happy with from Uniqlo and Marshall's/TJ Maxx. I've tried thrift shopping but I don't always have much luck.

I have discovered that I like shopping at Old Navy, and Target. I like shopping at the large department stores online because they usually have a size chart that has measurements. At this stage for me the online size charts save me a ton of time.

Good of luck on finding new places!

I really like Boden for weekend and some fun work-appropriate stuff.  (Check out their website.)

Not sure where you are...but Cato has a lot of great modest things and a decent price.  They have great sales and you can buy online if you want to.

I recommend Stitch Fix. I basically sent a letter saying "help, I don't know how to dress myself" and I've had a great experience :)

I'm trying to wait to do a lot of shopping. I've bought a few things at Walmart, some capris & a pair of jeans, but I need to get some underwear & bras (the girls need a fitting). I'm down 85 lbs (lots more to go) from my highest weight & I'm tired of wearing "droopy drawers." I will most likely find a Hanes outlet for that. For everything else, I tend to shop a lot for myself & my family at Marshall's & TJ Maxx. I use to shop at Sym's, however, they are no longer in business. I also like Burlington Coat Factory as they are also very reasonable & I recently found a Beall's Outlet & Cato's about a half hour from where I live. I like Macy's, but only when they run a great sale, like at the end of a season.

Oh girl, you can go anywhere! Well, except Torrid, Lane Bryant and the Avenue. Outlets, Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx/Marshall's have all been great. If you are completely not sure what to wear, you. might benefit from a personal stylist's services to help you find the best fits for your new shape. Or take a friend and go on a clothes try-on spree!

I also love Stitch Fix. They have sent me some awesome pieces that I wouldn't have looked at before. I've gone from wearing blacks and greys to wearing all sorts of color and feeling good about it. Who knew?!?
