WHO WENT HOME THE SAME DAY OF SURGERY? Concerned/Confused?

I went to my PreOp Visit at the hospital today and they told me that I may be going home the same day that I have the surgery. I do not like this idea at all. I want to at least stay 1night so that they can make sure everything is ok. Did anyone else go home the same day of surgery? If so, did you have any complications. 

They most likely won't send you home until you're able to hold fluids down and you've had a leak test. If you can't do that, then they most likely can't discharge you.

It might be possible that someone with an early-morning appointment and an easy surgery could head home that night. But that's why they said "MAY" instead of "WILL." :)

I Had my surgery done at a surgi center.  i went home that afternoon.  It was no problem for me or my recovery.

I stayed over night but it was less than 24 hours.  I didn't have any problems and I had a 4 hour drive home from the hospital...well, I guess I should say ride home because I obviously wasn't driving.

I had my surgery around 5:00 p.m. on a Wednesday, and was discharged Thursday around noon. No problems whatsoever.

I will be doing just overnight too and no leak test he does that while he is in there ..kinda makes me.nervous...but he should know his business and I trust him 

I had my surgery with Dr. Kim and left the hospital the same day.  They will ask you if you want to stay but really being at home is more comfortable.  He will check for leaks during the operation.  I had no complications at all!
