So, when do you start losing, post-op?!!
I know I am only 4.5 days out, and I know I swell up terribly whenever I have an IV, but I gained 11 pounds during the surgery - from 228 to 239. Surgery was last Thursday morning, 18 June. It's my birthday, 23 June, in half an hour. And I still weigh 238! So when does it start falling off?! I'm doing absolutely everything right. :)

Took 2 weeks to lose the first pound. surgeon said don't weigh yourself for first 4 weeks. "Its discouraging". I couldn't listen myself however.

Sheri-
Be patient with yourself and work your plan. The weight will come off. I, too, didn't listen to advice not to weigh myself right away. I gained thirteen pounds, which I held on to for 2+ weeks. A month out, I've lost that and another fifteen. Work to make your water and protein goals, and stay on plan, and that scale will move !!

Everyone is different indeed. I didn't gain a thing from the fluids and lost two lbs in the first couple of days post op and steadily since then with a few slow downs but not really long stalls, all the way down to goal. It took me almost two years though. I was slow but steady. And started losing right away.

I started losing the day after surgery.
Everyone. Is. Different.
Some people retain fluids from their IVs in the hospital. Others do not.
If you're doing absolutely everything right, the weight will come off. Don't get yourself worked up over something you can't control. Setting goals to lose a certain amount of weight by a certain day can be troublesome. If you don't reach the goal, will you eat something you shouldn't to comfort yourself? I haven't had this surgery yet, but I've had plenty of other surgeries. I ALWAYS retain water from the inflammation and the IV fluids. Can't remember how long, but i think about a week. Then it all fell off fast. Just remember, no matter what the scale says, your body is losing fat right this very second. If you're following all your instructions, you are shrinking as you sit there. :-D
