Getting off the crack!

Today I'm going to stop eating sugar. At about 6 month post op I started eating sweets. It started as a bite of really awesome chocolate once a week, and then twice, and then every day, and then a Girl Scout cookie, and them 2. I've been really bad. I haven't gained any weight, I'm holding steady at 147-149 but I would really like to get down to 140. Obviously I'm eating enough calories that I'm in maintenance when I still want to lose some more. I'm hoping that I will see a difference in the scale quickly. I've also noticed that I have acne again and I didn't when I was. Not eating as much sugar. Thanks for giving me a forum to make this public so I can be more accountable to myself.

That Carb Monster is the worst.  I always have to white-knuckle it for a few days to break the cravings, but then it gets much easier.  It sure is easy to get lulled into eating carbs, though.  Good for you to be committing to your weight loss program and breaking the carb cycle.

best wishes,

Carol

You can do it! I've found that drinking something sweet (sugar-free) when I want a bit of candy or something helps a ton.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion. I never drink anything bu****er. Perhaps something else will help.

Funny, was just posting about this on my blog...

Long story short...I am almost 4 mos into 6 mos pre-op stage trying to eat like I will need to after surgery.

Got tired of water & homemade ice tea w/stevia & started getting McD's ice tea w/equal I added.

Don't know if it was equal, but in past month I feel MORE hungry & noticed my carb intake has increased!

Sigh! So stopped the equal to see if that was it.

I swear sugar in any form is like crack...except stevia which seems to keep me under control. But damn it gets old to just drink water, homemade iced tea w/stevia & occasionally crystal lite...which I am not a fan of!

Best of luck!

Kathy

No doubt about it. Sugar is The Devil!

I stopped eating sugar before my surgery because once I start, I cannot stop. I'll eat down to the last cookie in the bag. The only form of sweets I allow myself now is fresh fruit. Fruit doesn't trigger cravings; not sure why.
