Incisional hernia from VSG surgery?

I had my VSG surgery in 2011 and have been experiencing a lot of pain lately when pressing on one of my surgical incision scars (the one just above the belly button). I had ultrasound and have been told I have an incisional hernia where the fat is going into the surgical incision because it didn't heal properly. Now I have to see a surgeon to see what can be done about it because it is painful and I can't wear any pants with elastic. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this. I'm surprised because it is so many years later.

I had this happen from another surgery.  I had to have the hernia repaired.

Incisional hernias can occur with any type of surgery, not just WLS.  It's a known complication that can occur months or years down the road.  I've known a couple people who had to have hernia repair surgery to fix it.

Been there done that.  Surgery is not bad and is worth it.  Mine was from my c-sections.
