Back in Hospital....
So, per a previous post, I was sleeved and had had significant hernia repair 05/27/15. Esophagus became extremely swollen... contrast just sat there during leak test. Extreme nausea... unable to swallow even saliva... went home with PIC line for VPN seven days later. On my fifth day home, yesterday, my PIC line arm became extremely swollen. Advised to return to hospital, where I was admitted for extensive DVT along length of PIC line. On heparin therapy and hopefully PIC will be successfully removed tomorrow. Good news..." passed" leak test today. I refuse another PIC line, so wish me luck advancing to protein drinks tomorrow.

Sounds like your PIC line became infiltrated. That has happened to me before and is extremely painful. Congrats on passing the leak test. All of this will be a passing memory before long. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow and my doctor called me this morning at 6:30 and said they were moving my surgery until the last case instead of the first. I am a little disappointed. I also have a moderated sized hernia he will have to repair. Good luck with your protein drinks. Remember sip, sip sip!
I'm sure you'll do great !

I'm so sorry to hear you are having so many complications. I'll hold you in my prayers. I hope you will be back on track and home soon.

Things are improving. Heparin levels have been therapeutic long enough to have PICC removed this afternoon. Passed swallow test yesterday. If I can take in enough fluids orally, hopefully home tomorrow or Thursday !! Please, no more TPN and no more hospital. Surgeon and team have been fabulous.
