Hey everyone. So I'm 2 years 2 months post op. Lost at my highest 200 pounds. Well the last 6 months, I've been slowly gaining a bit and now I'm about 10 pounds higher. It's kinda freaking me out. Mainly, because I feel like I'm a failure and I'M the REASON I've gained. I eat 1700 cal a day and for awhile. I was maintaining at that... I still watch my food, eat well and stay away from junk.

Did you experience weight regain and how did you handle it. Did you think you were to blame, or do you think it was just rebound?

Thx

I know that I'm to blame when I gain weight.  "Rebound" isn't just something that happens without involvement from the person.

But, the good news is that being responsible for something means you can also choose to do something about it.  If you know you're eating 1700 calories a day, I assume you're tracking and weighing everything you eat?  If you're not, start now.  Chances are that 1700 is too much for maintenance for you, since you're gaining, and that you need to figure out what tweaks to make to your diet.  From there, work on getting back to your basics.  Here are mine, yours might be slightly different:

1. Prioritize protein and water
2. Deprioritize carbs, especially the refined and processed ones
3. Make the most of healthy fats
4. Eat three meals a day with no snacks
5. Avoid liquid calories (breakfast protein shake is the exception)
6. Weigh portions, log everything consumed
7. Eat mindfully and with no distractions aside from real live people
8. Move as much as possible
9. Weigh myself daily
10. Be kind to myself

Thanks Gwen. I really appreciate your reply.... I do weigh everything, and track in my fitness pal. I'm usually pretty honest with myself. But for some reason, the gain has surprised me. Maybe, you're right. I maintained at 1,700 cal for a bit, and then it changed. So I have to change with it.

Sigh. I have started dropping some of my allowed carbs recently, and I will focus on protein, etc...

Thanks again for being honest with me.

It's tough.  The one constant with humans is that we're constantly changing :/
