Anyone Wig out?
Hi Everyone, so I am 5 months post op and my hair is falling out the CRAZY for the last couple of months. A little history, for the last 18 years I have had alopecia areata where I loose patches of my hair sometimes. Normally, I am able to ensure the patches are covered so it is no big deal. When it started the first time I lost 85% of my hair and had to wear a wig but, it grew back just fine. However now it seems I'm shedding all over now . My hair is everywhere, even on the dog! (instead of his hair being on me). I have tried to reach my daily protein goals (I'm sure I didn't get 60 grams years ago before surgery). I have also ensured I am taking my vitamins and supplements. I've been tested and all my levels are good.
Has anyone lost so much hair they've had to wear a wig? I had to do that once and sure don't want to have to go down that road again. Sigh....
Any suggestions or advice are welcome. Thanks.
I was worried about hair loss, so I actually shaved my head 6 weeks post-op to raise money for children's cancer research! Your hair dresser can probably advise you on what styles/cuts will work well for you.

I didn't think it was brave. Just practical and easy. I have a feeling I might do it again before I get my arms done so that I don't have to deal with hair care!
I also didn't care so much about style - I make my own ;)

The charity is St Baldricks and you can either find a shaving event or set up as a virtual shavee. You set up a donation page and people can donate directly through your page. It was really easy! I raised $1500!

I don't wear a wig but close, I wear a topper. I have mine bonded but there are clip-on versions too. I don't always love it . . . but I love it more than I hate being close to bald!
I had super thin hair before surgery, to the point where Nanogen and Toppik were really not enough. I got all of my protein (75+ grams) starting the day after surgery and I started supplementing with biotin and zinc well before surgery. All that didn't do jack, I still lost hair like crazy. I really believe that the hair loss is related directly to the surgery, and there isn't anything we can eat or any magic potion to rub on our scalps that will prevent it.
