Don't like meal times! Have you experienced?

Is this normal? I swear it's such a chore to figure out what to eat at mealtimes that I just often default to shakes because that doesn't require me to think. If we are going out to eat, I enjoy small bites of new/different flavors, but when at home I just dread eating.

I don't experience hunger, so I also think that's part of the turn off for me. I'm to a point where my protein hot chocolate (which I used to look forward to) now has to be choked down. If it wasn't for needing the protein, I probably wouldn't eat at all right now.

I'm just wondering if this is normal or if others have experienced the same thing. I'm hopeful this is temporary but for now it just stinks!

I experienced very much the same at about the same time as you. It passes after a while. Give it a couple of weeks and I bet you'll be enjoying food a little more.

Thank you. I'm pretty resilient but when I felt like I couldn't choke down another drink of that protein hot chocolate, it made me wonder if it was normal to feel this way. Thank you for replying!!

I wish I had experienced that! ;) I enjoyed cooking and coming up with new things I could eat! 7 months out and I still enjoy cooking and finding new high protein things to eat! Surgery didn't change me liking food or liking eating! I wi**** did, but working that part out.

Thanks!! I still love cooking and enjoy feeding my family (and myself) but on nights where I can't cook and they do Subway -or- every single weekday when I am working from home (home office) and need lunch (or breakfast) I dread it all!!  I do love not being hungry but the side effect of that is dreading meals! Who would have thought, right?

I get what you mean now................those times I turn to cottage cheese, yogurt, turkey pepperoni and cheese!! It such a balance!!

Sometimes, I get so fed up with having to THINK about food, I wish I didn't have to deal with it at all! I keep some stuff in the pantry/freezer that I can grab at random when I KNOW I need to eat but don't feel like it. Pouches of pre-seasoned tuna, frozen meatballs, chicken breast strips that I can microwave with a bit of cheese and taco sauce. It's much easier when there's food just in front of me and I don't have to think about it.

It's funny how we want to lose weight and the food addictions and yet just wind up still thinking about food all the time - just in different ways! I'm losing at a good pace feeling like this, so maybe that's a positive trade off!! I still make sure I get my protein in daily regardless.

I had a similar experience.  In the first 3 months or so, I wouldn't have eaten but for the commitment to get my protein in every day.  At times, the thought of eating made me queasy, but I would push thru it.

It clearly passed, and now I think of those as "the good old days" as I struggle to avoid eating extra snacks between meals.
