Would you feel ready to go on a hike six weeks after VSG surgery?

I'm currently 9 weeks out and yes at 6 weeks I would have! just stop if you feel you need a break. That is if you have been feeling well and no complications, I would try to drink as much water as possible the day before to stay as hydrated as possible. :)

Surgery Date February 19th, 2015..... Cancelled due to the DECH in Fredericton not having any Beds :(

Depends......how active were you before surgery? How active since? What kind of hike? - up hills, rough terrain?

I was walking 45-60 minutes (3 mph/5% grade) 4 days/week before surgery. I worked my way back up to that level 5-6 days per week after surgery. At 6 weeks post op I went camping and hiked 3-4 miles including a very steep incline (My Fitbit gave me a total of 23 flights of steps climbed), I needed to rest twice during the big upward climb but otherwise am tolerating exercise very well!

I was walking three miles within 5 days of surgery. BUT, if I did too much for the first two months, I had a lot of pain between my shoulder blades. My surgeon said this was radiating pain because the stapled stomach doesn't have pain sensors. I had surgery over the Christmas holidays and it wore me out. So while I was walking lots as part of my plan, I was pretty tired when I overdid it. Just a thought for you to consider! Lots of breaks and not going uphill too much and it may be do-able!
Best wishes to you!
