Mac and Cheese pureed--allowed on your diet?

I'm still 8 days post op.  Dreaming about something that isn't liquid.  I'm looking through the limited list of foods I'm allowed in seven days.  I don't like mashed potatoes, but will eat them if I can hide unflavored protein powder in them.  I'd like to look forward to soggy/pureed mac and cheese.  Is this something others were allowed in their soft food stage?  I'll ask my surgeon but thought I'd get input from the board first.

(Comment: I know they're carb heavy, but most of what

I can't imagine mac n cheese going down well - too heavy and too rich.  I ate alot of ricotta and cottage cheese, as well as greek yogurt at that point.  refried beans were also good at that point.  Seems like so long ago!

JUST SAY NO TO MAC AND CHEESE!  It has NO nutritional value.  Mashed potatoes don't either.  Your focus needs to be protein.  Those two items are all carbs.  Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta baked with marinara and mozzarella on top, re-fried beans with a little salsa, scrambled eggs, baked white fish ( tilapia, cod, etc.) would be better choices.  Amy's makes a pretty good lentil soup.

Thanks for these ideas.  I like the idea of a pureed lentil soup.

The mashed potato was my surgeon's rec.

Uhmm, NO.  There is little to no protein in mac and cheese.  Now is the time to turn around your ideas about food and start making better choices.

Check out Eggface's suggestions for pureed foods.  The baked ricotta is wonderful during the stage.

Too many carbs, not enough protein. I stuck to mostly protein during pureeds and still avoid refined and processed carbs like pasta.

I'm seven months out & I'm still not allowed to eat pasta pure my NUT. There are much better options out there for you. What about a pureeing a hard boiled eggs, refried beans, greek yogurt or cottage cheese.

I understand completely!   I loved egg drop soup from my local chinese resturant.  Give it a try.  Sure made a difference in  satisfying my hunger.
