I said I wouldn't do this...

So, I am not really stressed about this... mostly irritated. I am in the middle of week three. I lost 30 pounds during my first two weeks. This week I have jumped back and forth between the same two pounds all week... 266, 264, 266, 264, 266.

I think I just need some reassurance. I am eating between 60 and 65 grams of protein per day and always under 650 calories (usually closer to 575-600). What would cause the fluctuation? Is this my body just trying to adjust? I mean obviously I can't actually gain weight eating so little and exercising 45 minutes per day... Again, I am not worried or stressed that the surgery isn't working, I just wanted someone to remind me to stick to plan (lol, just like I say in my head when I read others posting about the same thing).

But then again... if you have other words of wisdom, share those too!

Stay off of your scale and stick to your program.  You're absolutely normal!

LOL... My husband would argue with that statement!

But, I hear you loud and clear!

CLASSIC three week stall. Search this site for it. You'll see it's the rule rather than the exception. It will pass and you'll keep losing as long as you stick to your plan!

This is normal weight fluctuation.  Our bodies need time to shift and adjust as we lose weight, so there will be times of weight loss and times for our bodies to catch up and rebalance.  try to keep the long-term perspective.  30 pounds in 2 weeks is phenomenal.  30 pounds in a month is also exceptional.

I lost 225 pounds in 18 months, and I never lost 30 pounds a month, much less 30 pounds in 2 weeks.

So count your blessings, and don't set unrealistic expectations for yourself, or you'll drive yourself crazy, when you should be enjoying your success!

best wishes,

Carol

Oh yes, I am totally aware that 30 pounds is a crazy loss. I also know I would look like a deflated balloon if I continued to lose at that rate. I have read about the week 3 stall... but I guess I didn't realize that it included the up and down on the scale as well. Thanks for setting me straight.

So glad you posted this today. I am three weeks out and feeling the same way. I finally lost another pound after not losing for almost a week.  I am glad that I am in the same boat as other people.  However, your thirty pounds lost is amazing! I am no where near that so hats off to you!

Thanks so much. I tell others that it's not a race... it's more like a long, long walk. The key is to be consistent. I fully expected the weight loss to slow down; however, I didn't know it would go up like that. I freaked out a little... but since I journal every thing I eat I knew I had been true to plan.

First, totally normal! Many, many people have the "3 week stall". Research carbohydrate restriction and glycogen storage and it will all make sense. It will help you understand the biology around that crazy 30 pound loss in such a short amount of time and why you are stabilizing right now.

Be assured, you are PERFECTLY NORMAL!
