5 month post-op labs - kidney issues?
First off, I feel fine. But my 5 month post-op show the kidney numbers not very good. My PCP sent me to
a kidney specialist who wants to run some further blood and urine tests as well as a renal ultrasound
and possibly a kidney biopsy. We're all at a loss on this.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

First, sending prayers and good vibes that all will be well! Also, I'm not any kind of an expert, so these are just my thoughts. Are you getting in enough fluids vs. protein? Some time ago I remember reading here that we should have at least one ounce of fluid for every gram of protein we eat, so our kidneys can flush out the residue from the protein. You may want to check this out. Good luck!!! Mary
I'm not perfect with the water every day but I do try very hard to get at least 8 glasses a day.

Not enough...up tha****er to at least 100 oz. per day. For someone your weight who is in extreme weight loss mode, that should be the minimum. And don't "try" - "do".
And stay away from any caffeine drinks or drinks that have artificial sweeteners in them. Those things are very hard on the kidneys.
Holding out good thoughts for you!
It's so hard to get the water in, but I'll have to do better.

Sometimes those labs will look off from a high protein diet and being in ketosis. Ask your docs if that could be part of the issue.
