Constipation
i am making note of these suggestions, because i had a TERRIBLE experience with constipation: i developed (TMI alert) anal fissures from being too constipated, and they have been the most painful thing i have ever had to deal with, including the VSG surgery! i was on percocet for the pain and still was barely functioning. they are healing now but it is now my goal to never be constipated again! i already was doing daily miralax and benefiber, but have added daily colace and may add prunes.
I also never had a problem until my VSG surgery. i am 3 1/2 months out and still have problems . I can't go for a few days and then it is VERY painful to go. My Surgeon first said to take Benefiber daily, which helped at first then no longer did. then I added back oatmeal and 2 prunes which was my routine before surgery, but of course now I can only eat half the oatmeal I ate pre-op. the I tried pink Ducolax nightly but that didn't hel. Last Friday when I saw my Surgeon I asked if I could start taking Miralax daily because I had seen so many people take it daily here, but my surgeon said No, to use Citrucel daily instead so ai started that yesterday...I hope this works!

A cup of coffee (with protein powder added instead of creamer) in the mornings seems to do the trick for me.
I use fiber gummies every night. If I need to add something, I'll have a cup of Smooth Move tea. I had to use MOM about a week and 1/2 after surgery. I started with the fiber gummies after that. I do eat a fiber rich diet, which helps, but find things can still back up easily without the gummies. Good luck!
