I am on the liquid diet pre op and I would like to have some broccoli cheddar soup from Panera Bread if allowed. If not then no big deal. Thanks.

It would depend what your doc describes as "liquid".  Broccoli and cheese soup is pretty heavy and may not feel great on a new tummy.  Been there...tried that!

On my plan it would not have been allowed. Everything had to fit through one of those tiny metal strainers.

Thanks. I don't have my new tummy yet. I am on the pre op liquid diet. But I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. I appreciate everyone on this forum because your experiences help me. I look forward to being able to help someone new after I have my surgery.

I think you can probably blenderize it...but the carbs are the killer.  I think the French Onion (without bread & cheese & blenderized) is a better option.  Hang in there!  The pre-surgery liquid diet was the toughest part for me!

Thank you Sarah. Worst week to start the liquid diet. My Mother In law passed away then someone backed into our car. Lots of stress. But I have been low carb high protein for 3 months so I can handle it.

I'm so sorry!  I can't imagine how hard it must be to white-knuckle your way through this with all the stress.  I hope the universe eases up on you!

The pre-surgery was the hardest part for me too.

There is  200 calories, 22 carbs and 2 grms of fiber in a bowl of French onion soup

There is 220 calories, 15 carbs and 5 gems of fiber in a bowl of broccoli cheddar.

Personally I wouldn't opt for either. That's a lot of calories for a bowl of soup.

If you must, broccoli and cheese is always better than any kind of onion soup. Onions turn to sugar. They Carmelize them down to bring out the sugars. That's what makes the soup so good.

Learn to go to websites and research this stuff you will be doing it a lot post op.

Crikey!  I sent the company a message asking for calories without the cheese & bread -- they wrote back that it was only 80 calories, 3g fat, 13g carb...so that's what I used.  I added protein powder to up the protein count, too.  But perhaps that's not right?  That could explain my early-on 2 week stall...
