Liquids are going down with ease. I am wondering at what point I can use a straw?

Ask your doctor, because he's the one in charge.  It has something to do with gulping in air and gas, I think.  Your doctor may clear you immediately if you're having no problem getting your liquids down. But, it's always better to check with "the boss".  Some people use a straw from day one with no issues.    It's amazing how different our plans can be!

Congratulations on your surgery - sounds like thing are going well.  Please share some more details:  surgery date, type of surgery, etc.  It helps everyone to see how others progress.

I've always used one. If you try and it makes you uncomfortable, stop.

My surgeon said if we wanted to try one we could. Same as Grim said, if it's not comfortable then stop. I am 3 weeks post-op and found that I prefer a straw for some protein drinks and haven't had issues with swallowing a ton of air, etc.

I agree with others to check with your dr. or the NUT.  The WLS program I went through said we had to stop using straws, and as far as I know, it was indefinitely.  I do use one occasionally, if I get a sf lemonade or iced tea at BK or D 'n D, as it's so much easier, especially if I'm driving. :)

I started back on straws around 4 months post op.  I've had zero issues.  A good rule I learned here was to exhale through your nose as you swallow.  I've been using that trick and it seems to help me.  xoxo

Try it! Its quite obvious if its going to be ok or not. My first time was not a success, so I waited a few weeks and tried again. I think my third time I had enough healing to do it.
