I'm 5 months out and we're going to the winery sundy for mothers day. I'm not a drinker but I'm not quite 6 mos.post op and wanted to know can I have a glass of wine. Has anyone drank that early....

I did.  I was about 5.5 months the first time I drank.  I was fine.  It effects me a lot more than it did before.  A little goes a LONG way, so be careful.  I probably wouldn't have a whole glass the first time.  First time I drank at home to make sure I would be okay.  And don't drive.  Happy Mother's Day!

This is a hot topic around here. you'll get a lot of different responses. My first drink was about 3 months post op and I only had a few sips and felt woozy. At 5 months out you're probably fine but at this point it's just empty calories so stick with one small glass and baby it.

I wouldn't let my first time trying alcohol be out in public.  You can't predict how you're going to react.

I had half a glass of champagne at 7 months out (I had hit goal!).   Whoa -- super dizzy, went right to my head.  I haven't tried anything since.

Be careful. I had a glass of wine on Tuesday(my first and last for a very long time) and it got me right toasted. Not only that... I had a headache for two days

don't be suprised if it stops your weight loss. Wine is really liquid sugar.

I went to a wedding at 5 1/2 months post op where there was a different wine with every course.  I decided to have one glass of wine with one of the last courses of the meal.  I drank only a portion of the glass,  and even so I felt it. But it was fine on my tummy.  So I think you can do it.  Just use moderation, and don't let it become a habit, as it is empty calories.

best wishes,

Carol

I was two months post op when I decided to try a beer. I took one sip and the carbonation was so bad I couldn't take another. But then I wanted to try mixed drinks. Well that is the key for me now! Mixed with juice is just fine and goes down easily. lol

You tried beer at 2 months. You are 3 months out and are having mixed drinks with fruit juice?  Just clarifying.
