5 Weeks After Surgery Food and Travel Advice

I want some advice. At around 5 weeks after your surgery, what kinds of foods were you eating and what kind of foods were you having trouble with?

Also, I'm looking for good foods to buy cheaply from a grocery store during my mushy phase. Specifically, I want cheap, 2-3 ingredient meals. I'll be traveling, and moving from one city to another every week or so, and I don't want to pack and transport food. I also can't afford to eat out every single meal (I'll be in expensive cities like Paris) so I do want to prepare some foods at my rental apartments. I'll have a full kitchen everywhere, as well as a big thing of protein powder for shakes.

I'll be gone two months and I really especially want to avoid any foods that will make me sick.

Thanks in advance :)

I couldn't eat chicken, pork or beef at 5 weeks.  I would avoid those.  Sounds like a fun trip.

When I travel, I bring some of my basic non- perishables.  Think protein powder and bars.  They are good emergency stock.  You can also get cheese most anywhere.  It is easy to digest.  Early on I did well with beans, eggs, guacamole, cottage cheese.  Fish is also easy to digest as it is not as dense as other proteins. Canned tuna shredded with mayo can be an easy meal.  Good luck.

I used a lot of the protein soup packets. Very transportable and not sweet.

At 5 weeks I was still on soft food. Yogurt, ground beef, cheese, fish...

I was in Aruba 5 weeks post op.  My meals were mostly soups, sugar free pops, RTD protein shakes, and soft fish and veggies.
