2 years post op and happy (with pics)
Today is the 2 year anniversary of my weight loss surgery. I will include before and after pictures so you can see what weight loss surgery can do. I am so happy that I finally decided to have the surgery. My results were beyond my wildest dreams. Starting at 385 pounds, I never thought I'd see ONE-derland. I never considered being a normal weight again in my life. Heavens, if I could break 300 pounds I would have been happy.
This morning, I weighed in at 158 pounds with a BMI of 24. I've been maintaining around 160 for about 6 months now, and I feel great. My blood pressure is normal, I threw away my CPAP months ago. I can keep up with the crowd, and I fit in an airplane seat. No more pain in my back and my knees. People who didn't know me before my weight loss can't believe I was ever heavy! One nurse called me “skinny” - she didn't know it, but she made my day.
I recently had abdominoplasty to remove some of that excess skin, and I look at my flat belly and I feel like a teen again, and I'm 67 years old. What a trip this has been.
So if you are considering weight loss surgery, know it can work. Even if you are older, its worth the effort. You have to make a commitment and follow your program, but if you do you'll succeed. The surgery doesn't make it easy, but it makes it possible.
Best of luck to all of you on your weight loss journey.
