My surgery was on 4/13/2015. Things went well, but a couple of days later, a small complication came up and I went back into the hospital. When I left the hospital, I was moved to stage 2 foods. This is where I'm confused. In stage 1, everything was 1 ounce at a time. How much is it for stage 2?

Today, these were my meals

Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack  - 1 Oz protein shake, 1 Oz skim milk. Then for supper, I had tomato soup made with skim milk. Not sure how much.I just ate until the pain hit.

I was so hungry, it hurt. I'm off of yogurt and puddings due to the thing that happened before. When do I increase my ounces? How do I fight the hunger pains? When is stage 3? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Don't eat until you are in pain.  Measure everything you eat.  Contact your surgeons office for eating instructions.  Mine gave me a written guide for each stage.  I was eating about 2 oz at this point, and all soft foods.

You should not be eating until you feel pain - you should measure everything you eat.  Call your surgeon's office to find out how much you should be eating.

As for the hunger - at this point hunger is most often from acid.  Are you taking a PPI such as prilosec or nexium?

How much liquid are you drinking?

You should contact your surgeon immediately and request eating instructions for the first 12 months of surgery.  Did you not have to meet with a nutritionist to walk you through the stages before you had surgery?

2 oz is about right at this point but call you surgeon

tomato soup is not the best choice there is little protien in it and it is acidy which is not the best thing till your sleeve heals

do not eat till there is pain you will damage you new sleeve

are you also getting in 65 oz of liquid the soup and shakes count

every surgeon has his / her own plan I was on all food after 2 weeks some surgeons have 2 or more weeks of clear liquids then a few weeks of full liquids then a few weeks of purried then soft food

you need to call you surgeon or nut to get there plan and stick to it

all food at this time must be measures and tracked you will not feel full for a few months , and you should not feel hunger for a while if ever

it is probably acid that needs a ppi or h2 blocker , call your surgeon for one

the only thing you doing wrong is not having your surgeons plan and following it which is hard if you don't have it

Thanks everyone!

I am measuring out everything now. Will be eating cream soups now. I am working on my fluids. That is the hard part. I was never much of a water drinker. When I met with the nutritionist,  she gave me a general list of stages. She said I'd get a big book in the hospital that will give me more info. It basically said the same thing as the papers I got from the nutritionist. I am taking Prevacid 2x a day. Is that what a ppi is? Tomorrow,  I'm calling my doctor to find out what I am doing. I did discover that doing things, moving more help with the hunger pains. I was such a couch potato. Lol
