Tomorrow is the BIG day! Bowel Prep today..feeling anxious
Today I do the bowel prep yeah for me! Rather nervous about feeling faint and getting through it. Tomorrow I check in at the hospital at 11:30 and then off to the O.R.!!! I'm blessed to have such amazing support from family and friends...my sister is a retired surgical daycare nurse and will be by my side through the hospital stay and for a few days afterwards..keeping me sane lol. Of course I know it's totally natural to feel anxious..I'm about to take a leap of faith in not only my surgeon, my sleeve and but mostly myself..those little nagging doubts about will I be successful long term. I've been on a 20 day liquid diet and have lost 18 pounds for a total loss of 31 pounds since the beginning of this journey.
How did others feel/manage going thru the bowel prep???

I didn't have a bowel prep, but I can relate to the anxiety that you are going through as I had many pre-surgery procedures before my doctor would go ahead with it. (Endoscopy, etc.) You are doing great with your pre-surgery weight loss! If you can go 20 days on a liquid diet, the sleeve program (once you get past the liquids, puree and soft foods) should be a piece of cake. You will learn to appreciate healthier foods. (At least I have and so have many others that keep up with this forum). Think of the surgery as a gift to yourself. Good luck with the bowel prep and your sleeve surgery!
I also did not have to do the bowel prep for my sleeve and my doctor also did not make me do that 20 liquid diet, But I would have done all that and more to do this. Just remind your self it is just a short term thing and keep busy doing other things you enjoy (reading, crafts, watching a good movie). I would also DVR all your TV for a while so you can skip all those stupid FOOD ads!
I did not have the bowel prep for the sleeve but I did when I had the lap band (back in 2007). The prep made me weak and tired, so I just laid around all day. I remember watching a lot of movies so that I kept my mind busy and the nerves at bay.
Surgery will be over before you know it! Best of luck to you =]
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement! It's odd how many different approaches there are to this surgery!
I've done bowel prep for colonoscopy and lithotripsy, but not for my VSG. Bowel prep sucks a lot :P
