Why is the stomach so hard to loose???

Just passed my 4 month post op date. Great weight loss so far! I do workout instense cardio, resistance training etc. But my stomach does not seem to want to go lol The more weight I loose the more noticeable my stomach is. I must mention i gave birth 6 years ago so not sure if its excess skin or overstretched or whatever. I'm determine to not to have surgery but by my 1 year if i do not see improvement i guess I will.
Happy 4 months! Congrats on the loss and the exercise! I am also worried about the stomach area. but i figured it will take a lot of hard work to lose it, if I do. I had 2 csections so I have that nice belly flap from those. Hopefully it can be done, but it is common to have some saggy skin. But being healthy is so much more important :) I think it takes a few years for the skin to catch up, so you may want to wait longer for plastics.

Had my surgery 3 months ago. The weight is mostly coming off my rear end and thighs, the parts I thought would not budge until everything else had shrunk. In spite of losing nearly 50 pounds, I'm still wearing my high-weight tops, because my upper-body parts, including my stomach, have not budged at all. Weird.

My tummy was the last to go. I reached my goal weight and then decided to lose more weight until my tummy shrunk. Well, I lost another 20 pounds and my tummy was still there. When I looked into abdominoplasty, the plastic surgeon said I didn't have much fat in my belly. I had my tummy tuck last week, and they removed 5 pounds of excess skin, and my belly is flat now. (see profile for pics.)
You may be surprised how much of the excess in your belly is skin and not fat.

I'm sure that some of it is likely skin - your doctor can probably tell you if you ask about it. Have you had your body fat checked?

We tend to gain weight proximally (from the center of the body outward) and lose it distally (from the outward points to the center). So the weight will come off your legs, arms, feet, neck, face, etc. and the VERY last is usually the belly area.
However, if you were morbidly obese for any length of time, your body generated extra skin to cover your bulk. And guess what? When we lost weight, that skin doesn't evaporate. And if any of the skin has stretch marks it's permanently destroyed and won't snap back. You can do all the workouts in the world and have fantastic muscles underneath...but you still won't see them until the excess skin and tissue is removed.
Now, you are ONLY at 4 months out so you need to be a lot more patient. After you hit maintenance you should wait an entire year to see what your skin does while giving it everything you have in the exercise department. Because there will be changes and stuff does kind of move around and resettle.
Keep up the great work!
