Praise for the lowly prune

The prune -- wrinkled (much like me), kinda ugly, not to everyone's taste. But oh, its beneficial influence on the body!
As is common after sleeve surgery, my bowels nearly froze up. I was very uncomfortable trying to squeeze out a few tiny lumps once or twice a week. I bought Mirolax but hesitated to use it because I like to stick to natural foods as much as possible. A week ago I finally remembered the prune. I started eating 2 for a small snack in the evening before bedtime. The difference in the bathroom is amazing. I know prunes are carbs and concentrated ones at that, but for me at least, they're worth it! Only 40 calories for two prunes. Try 'em.

Thanks so much for the reminder about prunes. Before my surgery I ate 2 prunes every day, but stopped after surgery due to the Carbs. But I am going to add them back in. I totally agree with " very uncomfortable trying to squeeze out a few tiny lumps once or twice a week." More than uncomfortable, painful. And I never had a problems in this area before surgery. Thanks again! :-)

I didn't have this issue after the VSG at all but after my lower body lift (plastics) the stomach wall muscles were tightened so much I had a bit of a challenge and at the hospital they gave me 10 ml. (really just a tablespoon size) of fig syrup with my meals and it was like magic. I don't know if you can get fig syrup in the states - I imagine so because you can get just about anything in the states... so I would try that too. It is yummy also and works fabulously.
