My amusing parents
About 2 months ago I had the realization that the people I'll meet now in life won't have known the super morbidly obese me. I'm barely even still obese at this point. That's a totally strange thought. Being SMO has been a part of my identity for so long. And people I meet now won't ever know that unless I tell them. Crazy, eh?
Then I spent a month with my parents. I never have to worry that people won't know I was SMO because my parents are so amazingly proud of me that they'll tell EVERYONE. So embarrassing :P

I went to church with my grandparents on Easter. After the service my grandmother introduced me to her pastor: "This is my granddaughter, April. She had surgery a year ago and has lost 140 pounds and runs now." It was nice that she's so proud but..oy. I assume the novelty will wear off at some point. haha.

I have a friend who has a daughter my daughter's age. Whenever we end up at the same birthday parties, she tells everyone my weight loss story AND pulls up my before/after photos and shows them. OMG!!
It used to bother me a lot, but not anymore. i guess I am used to it. You will get used to it, too!!

I just said to my husband this morning that I can't wait to meet new people that just see me as "normal", not obese or SMO - just "normal". I'm still pre-op so have a ways to go, but I look forward to that.
