Just a quick update... I am 13.5 months post-op and still losing (very very very very slowly now!) lost 156 lbs so far.

The Bad: I've lost a lot of hair.. My head still has not caught up with the weight loss yet. I still see myself very large and still avoid pictures. I'm insecure about my arms and chin mostly, but the saggy skin all over does bother me..(I would love to get plastics one day, but that's something I can not afford)... compliments make me uncomfortable... I feel like im stuck at this weight and won't lose anymore...

(Just a side note: I know I probably need therapy, but I have no insurance and thats not an option at this time)

The Good: my feet don't hurt after working all day! I can actually play with my kids at the park! I can fit into the movie seats, no longer in the the plus size section in the stores, I can cross my legs when sitting, Im not scared I'll break a chair, I can JOG! I can do yard work...There is so much more!!!

Getting VSG was the best thing I have done for myself! and have I no regrets!

It's definately not "the easy way out" I still have a lot to work on and change, so that I will make it to my goal.. It's a learning process for sure!...

here's a pic from before surgery and now...

Hi Glendale Mom,

You are doing great. Congratulation on your 156 pound weight loss.   Keep up the good work and you'll get there.  My weight loss was really slow at the end, too.

I am so happy for you and your success.

Way to Go!  You are doing fabulous!   From your comments in the "good" section,  I can see you agree with me this was a decision to take control of our health.  It is already a blessing to your kids!  I know they enjoy playing in the park with you!  Just keep taking this one day at a time and you will reach your goals!  Try to learn to enjoy the compliments and repeat them to yourself till you believe!

You look awesome!  Congratulations. I am only 4 months out from surgery, but I use to worry about looking like a "flat tire". Thn I realized even with saggy skin I will look better in clothes and even naked than I use to. I am very happy for your success and you are beautiful!

Congratulations, you're doing great! I've read as you get closer to your goal, the weight comes off more slowly, but I'm sure you'll get there eventually.

As far as therapy goes have you tried OA?, they can at least give you some support, heck maybe they can refer you to a therapist that charges on a sliding scale. Not sure if they'd slide all the way down to zero, but maybe to a price more doable?

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel
