I had my surgery in September, but I was just wondering if anyone here goes to OA meetings? Do you find them helpful? Or maybe you attend a different kind of support group?

I tried going to a local support group, but it didn't work for me.  It was mostly people complaining.  I do, however, see my therapist weekly and that's been a great experience for me.  Very helpful.

I highly recommend OA as a means of support, post-surgery. The meetings are not about people complaining; they talk about how the 12 steps and other aspects of the program have helped them, not only regarding weight loss, but also about becoming better people in general. I lost weight attending OA and overcame my flying phobia. I just got back to my home in Maryland and next Monday is my first OA meeting in a while. Looking forward to it.
