THOSE ELUSIVE VEGGIES

Ok friends, I am in need of a solution for getting in my veggies.  I am 6 weeks post op, by the time I get my water and protein in there does not seem to be any room for veggies.  I take my vits religiously and today I bought V8 juice to help me up my veggie intake but if anyone out there has any other suggestions I would be very appreciative.

don't worry about veggies at this stage , you will be able to eat more further down the road , just worry about getting enough protien and water in and you will do fine

unless you are a veggitertion and don't eat animal flesh

then you will need the help of a good nut

My advice is to avoid liquid calories.  That includes V8.

If you're taking your vitamins, you'll be fine without vegetables until you have room for them.  Don't worry about them now.

I know it seems totally crazy to live without veggies, but I promise you'll be perfectly healthy without them for now. I'm just now at the point that I can manage to get my protein in and still have room for a few bites of vegetables. All of my labs have always been fine (perfect, actually). Take your multi, and as Gwen said, avoid the liquid calories and carbs.

I agree with above posts.  I love veggies and it killed me that I could't eat them.  I took my vits and my levels were fine.  I am 8 months out now and I enjoy my veggies.  In the beginning there was no room.

I will say that since I love veggies so much there were times that I added my unflavored protein to them and enjoyed a veggie protein meal every now and then.  The unflavored protein allows you to mix up your meals if you are craving a particular veggie.

In a month or two try adding veg only snacks.

I found this better than trying to get veggies into a meal early out.

Thanks friends, I feel better now, I was starting to think that I had to give something up in order to get the veggies in.  I will just be patient and not stress the veggies.
