I wasn't on a liquid diet pre op. I had a specific diet that my nutritionist gave me. And on MY diet, I was allowed coffee. Decaf was recommended, but I had regular, and started decaf after surgery.

I went back to regular at about 3 months after surgery.

What does YOUR program say?

Yes decaf is recommended but my DR was okay with regular.  I drink 1-2 cups a day which was my habit prior.

I went off caffeine 2 weeks prior and 3 months surgery. The preop recommendation was to prevent trouble with anesthesia. Post op was to prevent dehydration. I am back to regular coffee now, 2 cups a day.
