Wasting Food

I guess I'm just really thrown off by the fact that everyone is telling me to police my husband. He's a grown man, and I'm not going to say "eat this, or you don't eat"... lol. It's his decision. I was kind of hoping for some recipes that wouldn't require so much waste at the end, more single serving meals, I guess.

I don't think anyone is telling you to order your husband about what he can/can't eat - I'm suggesting that you only cook/buy what you can eat.  Like you say, he's an adult.  If he wants something, I'm sure he can cook/buy it for himself.

Is there a reason that freezing foods won't work for you?  Single serving meals, for our serving sizes, is sort of a challenge.  There aren't many recipes out there for "1/2 a chicken breast!" :D

The lady above said that, so it threw me off. Anyways, I think the problem is, and I should have been more specific, is that I usually don't want the same thing anywhere close to the time I eat it first. For instance, I bought chicken breast stuffed with spinach, cheese, etc. Was really good, but by the end of it, I was grossed out and didn't want to even think of eating it again.

This seems to happen a lot lately. For breakfast, I had 1 scrambled egg and some turkey sausage, but the sausage grossed me out and I want to get sick thinking about it. Now, I'm not going to want that again, and I've wasted it. Food is just... different to me now I guess.

Yet again - how about freezing food?  Once you get a good stockpile, you can rotate things so that you won't be eating the same meal over and over again.  For example, freeze the remainder of a meal tonight, and heat it up for lunch two weeks from now.

I guess I need to get into that mindset. I think part of the reason I got here, was that I'm in a hurry all of the time, and it's an inconvenience to sit and wait for something, especially if I want it NOW. It's easier to have something premade and ready to go right then. So I guess freezing it is really the only option.

Hey, if it's frozen that's sort of the same of having it premade and ready to go.  Since you don't need to actually cook anything, just pull it out of the freezer and heat it up!  (You could get into the habit of pulling it out of the freezer the night before and putting it in the fridge so it'd be thawed for lunch the next day, for example.)

I agree that not being mindful with meals and just rushing through them is a hurdle for many of us.

I know it sounds stupid, but I never really thought of something so simple, so it will be helpful, thank you. Sorry for being grumpy, I'm having a crappy morning. I appreciate your help, and I think I will actually work on implementing this starting tonight.

That's why I have so much leftover food... I'll be freezing that from now on. Thanks everyone!
