HELP! 2 weeks post op and already stalling?

Got sleeved on 3/24. Scales this morning still show me weighing 200lbs. I have been at this weight for about 3 days. Is this normal? I am transitioning to pureed foods as of yesterday. I don't think my water intake is sufficient. I am walking 10,000 + steps a day. Most days I have been getting my 60 grams of protein but I struggle to get 48 oz of water. I had tomato soup (less than 1/2 cup) with shredded cheese in it last night around 9pm. I felt hungry which is why I had the soup. I track all of my food intake and am a little less discipline tracking my water intake. I take ambien for sleep and it makes me hungry. I am trying to ween myself off of it but without it I don't sleep. I am in some serious need of guidance.

It's super important to get at least 64oz of water per day. That's your main priority. I struggle with it too. Haven't been getting quite enough but am trying. I'm 5 wks postop. I lost alot the first 2 wks post op then didn't lose anything for almost 2wks, then the scale started moving again and I've lost another 10lbs the last 12days. So don't worry about the stall. It's very common 2-3 wks post op to hit the stall just keep following your plan and even though the scale didn't move for me during that 2wks I went down a pant size. So make sure you've taken measurements, because that was encouraging during the stall to see that my body was still changing. I don't have any advice about the sleeping pill,  just make sure your dr is ok with it. Oh and they say if you're feeling hungry it's mostly usually caused by acid, so sometimes your ppi needs to be adjusted. Are you on a ppi like prilosec or Zantac or protonix? I still felt hungry too but just tried to drink more when I knew it wasn't really hunger. Good luck.

Yes, i have prilosec but I didn't know I should be taking it every day. I think I have only taken it once or twice. So what exactly does the ppi do?

Most people have to take it per surgeon instructions for at least 3 months post op. The acid can mimic hunger and the sleeve increases acid quite a bit for everyone as I understand it.

First of all, the stall is quite normal, so not to worry!  Second, you have to up your water intake!  64 oz. is the minimum, not the target.  You are doing great with the protein and your activity, so now get the last piece.  You may also want to talk with a therapist....Gwen is a big advocate of therapists and they can be a great help.  One of the side benefits of the surgery is that you should sleep much better...I have!  Keep trying to wean off the Ambien....you'll do great!  Best of luck to you!

3 days is not a stall.  Relax.  Keep following your plan.  The scale will move.

^^^ Exactly what she said -- three days does not a "stall" make.  That's called "normal".  You can complain about a stall when the scale hasn't moved in 3 weeks ;-)

Please get your water up - that will help you tremendously.  64 oz. a day is the minimum, you will want to shoot for 80 oz. as soon as you can.

Most people have a hard time weaning of of sleeping medications.  Sometimes you just have to have some sleepless nights until your body gets used to being without it. But it is a good thing to get off of it, especially if it makes you hungry,  lol.

WATER, WATER, WATER. Make that your main goal each day! Not what the scale says, but how much water you get down. The scale is not a measurement of fat loss, it includes liquid loss too. If you don't drink enough water, then your body is going to hold on to your fluids. Also, how are the toxins from the fat loss going to get out if you don't drink the water/ For my first week Post-Op my surgeon told me that getting the Water in was more important than getting the protein in. It was so hard that first week. But now at 10 weeks out, it is a breeze to get at least the minimum 64 oz down. HTH! :-) Kay
