lower abdominal pain

I had vsg surgery two weeks ago and I'm still experiencing a great deal of pain in my lower abdmonial cavity. The pain is greatest when I attempt to sit down or stand up. On a scale from 1 to 10 the pain is a 8 or 9. I've read many posts indicating others were back to normal in a few days post-op. I'm two weeks out and not close to what I would call a full recovery. I'm calling my surgeon today, but also wanted to get OH help on this. Any thoughts?

It could be anything from kidney stones to gallbladder issues to something related to your surgery.  Calling your surgeon is best.

I think we had surgery on the same day. I was definitely not back to normal a few days post-op. My pain gradually decreased on a daily basis. I was telling my dad that yesterday was the first day I've had a significant decrease in pain. Now my pain was never an 8 or 9 but I didn't feel any significant changes until yesterday. Good luck!

My pain was never an 8 or 9, even immediately post-op.  And I've had more serious surgeries with pain that definitely could have been 8 or 9.

I think you need to get to the doctor ASAP if the pain is this bad.  Yes, it's normal to take a few weeks to get back to normal and feeling OK.  It is NOT normal to be in intense extreme pain two weeks out.

I went to the Dr this morning, He says he's 95% sure it is not a hernia. He believes its just normal. He said where my pain is at is near the sticher where they removed my stomach from and that caused major stretching in the lower abdominal muscle. I'm off work another week and will have to monitor as the days go by. Ugh!
