Question for ladies
So I just started my first period after surgery. I was four days late. Anyways- what is safe to take for cramps after surgery? I use to take Midol or Pamperin. I do have PCOS and adenmyosis both of which can cause some painful periods but they had just recently gotten bad. Now this one is horrible. I don't know what is safe to take and am tempted to take one of my left over pain pills. I am hoping this is not going to be a painful experience every time!!
Anyways- what did y'all take for painful periods after surgery or what helped?

Stick with Tylenol, it's the safest to use after surgery. Bust out the heating pads, too, and make sure to drink extra fluids!

Thanks. I hope tylenol helps. I have taken a lot in my life because prior to surgery I had chronic migraines. I will be sure to get a heating pad! I am still struggling with fluids but will try even more to get them all in!

My periods have been heavier and more painful post op. I take Tylenol with some caffeine and use heating pads (plus cats, lots of cats!). However, in the pre-op phase, my surgeon did say that we would weigh the pain and discomfort against the risk of limited NSAID use and cross that bridge if we came to it.

I get horrible migraines and have endometriosis. Migraines were triggered by cycle. So I get the depo prevera birth control shot every three months. If you are trying to conceive that won't work for you. I heard after surgery losing weight makes you more fertile and can reverse pcos.
I am over a year post op and still can't take Advil. I try an adult dose and my stomach burns. I took my kids chewable dose of 100 and seemed o.k. I had to..kidney stones. Ended up getting narcotics.
Good luck. I recently stopped my depo, got a migraine and I am seriously dreading my cycle...arg!
