Just 10 days to go....
The good news is that, as of yesterday, I met the 15 lb loss goal that my surgeon's office set for everyone at the start of the pre-op work. YAY! This brings my total loss to 56 lbs which feels great.
I had my last appointment yesterday with my surgeon. He talked to me again about what to expect after surgery noting that I've lost quite a bit already and need to be prepared that I may not see huge losses post surgery because of it. Although I knew that from what he said before, I'm still ALL IN. I've lost this 56 lbs a few times and have failed to keep it off. With the help of this tool, I feel confident I'll be 100% successful.
Next week I have hospital orientation and another weigh-in on Thursday and the following Monday (4/13), I'll be having surgery.
Three of the women who started the journey with me at the surgeon's office have had their surgeries already. I saw them for the first time post-op yesterday. I was really encouraged by how they felt (all of them were raving about how they weren't in pain, etc). I was discouraged by one who kept talking about how she's drinking coffee already (we are told to avoid all coffee for 1 month post-op) and how she's craving cheeseburgers, etc. Really she went on and on about what she misses and what she's doing that is NOT on plan (eating baby food when on liquid stages, etc). Although I know that won't be me or how I approach things, it was discouraging to hear someone talking like that. Not only is that not good for others to hear especially if they are struggling, it's frustrating to just listen to. I hope she's successful, I really do. I just don't know how she can be with that type of attitude and approach.
I like to share a new NSVs each week just to remind myself it’s not all about the scale. Here are my NSVs for this week:
- Our Spring Break trip was to Washington DC whi*****luded a lot of walking. I was able to keep up the entire time with my hubby and 8 year old. Within the 4 days we were there, my FitBit logged over 25 miles and 52 flights of stairs. Yay me!
- At the hotel I put on my swimsuit to go to the pool with my son (something I ALWAYS dread to do since I never feel good in a swimsuit) and it wasn't horrible. Not only was my swimsuit way too big, but I wasn't unhappy with how I looked in it. Clearly I could look better, but to not be self-conscious about how I looked in it was great.
- My size 16s are starting to feel loose. They aren't loose enough to pull out a pair of 14s, but it won't be long.
Here’s hoping for another successful week! Just 10 days left to go!
