Brand Spankin' New
Hi everyone!
I just had my consult today with Dr Broussard in Edmond, OK. Everything is going well enough, except I found out that I have to lose 10% of my body weight before I can schedule a pre-op visit. Until then I have to go to the clinic once a month and see the exercise physiologist, nutritionist, and the Dr. I of course have to have my psych visit done too and all those appointments are scheduled in a months time.
My question is... I have to lose 31.7 pounds before I can schedule a pre-op visit. Surgery can be scheduled 2 weeks out from there, I need to have this figured out because I have to get off work months in advance.
How would you go about losing 31.7 pounds in the quickest way possible? I would like to hopefully do this in May because once it turns June I may not be able to get a week off wor****il September.
What pre-op diets worked for you?
In the 2.5 months pre-op last year, I started swapping breakfast and lunch for a protein shake. That worked well for my weight loss.

Thank you! This morning I had a sugar free carnation instant breakfast shake with an extra scoop of protein powder (Beneprotein), and I will have another for lunch. I have drank 64 oz of water and Crystal Light so far today I am hoping with mainly liquids and protein, (I have a chicken roasting for tonight) I can get this accomplished.
So is the 10% loss an insurance requirement or is that your doctors requirement? If its insurance not much you can do but if its your doctor you could look for someone else to do it that might meet your schedule.
The time spent losing the 10% could be a good thing giving you time to develop some new strategies for the changes we all have to make. Good luck and keep us posted
Thanks!
The 10% is a doctor requirement. My insurance has a strict "no bariatric" clause. I have thought about looking into another surgeon, but money is really tight as it is, and he has the lowest cash price around. Also very good infection/complication rates.
I guess I need to bite the bullet and do it, but man, I feel overwhelmed right now.
